Review for Sand Banks by Mr. Bankim Master:- Hello Manjari-ji,
We thank you for recommending to us a stay at Sand Banks, a Homestay at Ammathi in
Coorg District of Karnataka.
We had a pleasant 4-day stay there (29th Nov to 3rd Dec 2009) in their Coffee cottage. The place is a fantastic getaway from our daily life, to get a feel of the
Nature's beauty. Sapna & Micky Kalappa, the hosts, were gracious and warm-hearted,
yet non-intrusive. They have kept the Cottages neat & clean with all necessary basic
facilities. We would get up early in the morning (even though we were on a holiday!)
just to hear the mood-uplifting chirping of a wide variey of birds. The food,
prepared in Coorgi cuisine, was always hygienic, non-oily and enough. In fact, we
had to tell them to prepare lesser quantity in view of our smaller intake.
Their main helper-boy Vasu was also very nice, courteous and extremely punctual.
We were even invited by Sapna & Micky to their well-decorated home in a separate
cottage a little distance away from the cottage occupied by us, but within the same
estate. The entire family was present, including old-but-graceful parent of Micky,
and acted as perfect hosts, throwing a small celebration on our birthdays.
There are many places of interest in and around Ammathi, like Tal-Cauvery, a place
we were specially interested in. The roads in Coorg, however, are horrible.
Hopefully, the government would act soon on that front.
On the whole, it was a good stay at a good Homestay owned by a good family. |

Activities:-Boating, Coffee-estate Trek, Visit to nearby waterfall. Games:-Table-tennis, Badminton,Basket ball. The nearby places to see are Raja seat, Madikeri fort, Omkareshwar temple, Gadduge, Abbi falls, Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement and Golden Temple, Nisaragadham, Talacauvery and Bhagamandala.
